Regina Caeli
From Easter Sunday until Pentecost, the Regina Caeli takes the place of the Angelus at morning, noon and evening. Its short lines, each crowned with a glad alleluia, invite Mary to rejoice because her Son has risen. It is traditionally said standing, as a sign of Easter joy.
V. Queen of Heaven, rejoice, alleluia. R. For he whom thou didst merit to bear, alleluia.
V. Has risen, as he said, alleluia. R. Pray for us to God, alleluia.
V. Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary, alleluia. R. For the Lord has truly risen, alleluia.
Let us pray. O God, who by the resurrection of thy Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, didst vouchsafe to give joy to the world; grant, we beseech thee, that through his Mother, the Virgin Mary, we may obtain the joys of everlasting life; through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
