Light a candle for someone you love, for a worry you carry, or in thanks. It burns for 24 hours in the sanctuary, where pilgrims from everywhere can see it and pray with you.
How it works
- Enter One Candle and walk to the candle stand by the cathedral door.
- Write a short intention, or leave it blank. Choose whether it shows your name, no name, or stays private.
- Your candle is lit for 24 hours. When someone prays for it, you get a gentle notification.

Is lighting a virtual candle free?
Yes. One Candle is free, has no ads and does not sell anything. You only need a free account so that your candle and intention stay yours.
How long does my candle burn?
Each candle burns for 24 hours. You can light a new one any day, for the same person or a new intention.
Who can read my intention?
You choose: public with your name, anonymous, or private so that only you can read it. Every public intention passes our filter and can be reported to moderators.
Will someone really pray for me?
Pilgrims who pass the candle stand can press “I prayed for you”. You see how many people prayed, and you can turn on a quiet notification for it.
Can I light a candle for someone who has died?
Yes. Many pilgrims light candles for loved ones who have died. The prayer “Eternal rest” is a good companion for such a candle.
Do I need to install anything?
No. One Candle runs in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer. You can add it to your home screen if you like.
