Cookies and storage
Good news first: One Candle has no advertising, no analytics and no tracking cookies, and nothing from other companies is loaded on our pages. That is why you do not see a cookie banner.
The one cookie we use
| Name | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|
pw_sid |
Keeps you signed in. It holds a random token and nothing else; it is only sent to One Candle, cannot be read by scripts on the page (HttpOnly) and is sent only over HTTPS. | 30 days, or until you sign out |
This cookie is strictly necessary for the service you asked for (being signed in), so the law does not require consent for it. If you block it, you can still read these pages, but you will not be able to sign in.
Storage on your device
Your browser also remembers a few preferences in its local storage, which never leaves your device unless you bring it with you:
- your settings, such as sound, language and display options;
- the day you last saw the verse of the day, so it greets you once a day;
- pilgrims you muted on this device.
If you install One Candle as an app, your browser also keeps a copy of the app’s files so it opens quickly and shows a friendly page when you are offline. If you turn on push notifications, your browser keeps a push subscription, which you can remove at any time in One Candle or in your browser’s site settings.
How to clear them
Signing out removes the sign-in cookie. You can delete everything One Candle stored at any time in your browser’s settings (look for “site data” or “cookies and site data”).
If this ever changes
If we ever wanted to add anything that is not strictly necessary, we would ask you first, and you could say no without losing access. Read more in our privacy notice.
