Eternal Rest
This short prayer for those who have died comes from the ancient Latin liturgy for the dead, the Requiem. It is said at funerals, at graves, in November and whenever we remember someone we have lost, entrusting them to the light and peace of God.
V. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord. R. And let perpetual light shine upon them.
V. May they rest in peace. R. Amen.
V. May their souls, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. R. Amen.
