Night Prayer
Before going to sleep, Christians have long entrusted the night to God. This short prayer begins with Psalm 134, a song for those who keep watch in the house of the Lord at night, followed by the antiphon and blessing of Compline, the Church’s traditional prayer at the end of the day.
Look! Praise Yahweh, all you servants of Yahweh, who stand by night in Yahweh’s house!
Lift up your hands in the sanctuary. Praise Yahweh!
May Yahweh bless you from Zion, even he who made heaven and earth.
Save us, O Lord, while we are awake; guard us while we sleep; that we may watch with Christ and rest in peace.
May the almighty and merciful Lord grant us a quiet night and a perfect end. Amen.
