Sung Over
Yahweh, your God, is among you, a mighty one who will save. He will rejoice over you with joy. He will calm you in his love. He will rejoice over you with singing.
Zephaniah 3:17 (WEB)
Imagine a parent humming softly over a sleeping child, not because the child has done anything impressive, but simply out of love. Zephaniah gives us that picture of God: rejoicing over his people, quieting them with his love, even singing over them. It is a surprising image. Many of us expect God to be disappointed in us. Instead, this verse invites you to rest in the thought that God delights in you.
