New Every Morning
It is because of Yahweh’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his mercies don’t fail. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23 (WEB)
These hopeful lines sit in the middle of a book full of grief. The writer has lost almost everything, yet he insists that God’s mercies never run out and are new every morning. Like fresh bread or a clean page, each dawn brings a new supply of kindness. Yesterday’s failures do not use up today’s mercy. However last night ended, this morning you can begin again with God.
Prayer
Faithful God, thank you for mercy that is new this morning; let me begin again with you.
