Just for Today
Therefore don’t be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day’s own evil is sufficient.
Matthew 6:34 (WEB)
Worry is a time traveler. It jumps ahead to next month’s problems and drags them into this afternoon. Jesus gently tells us not to worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will bring its own troubles. That is honest and freeing. You only have to carry today’s load today. When anxious thoughts race ahead, bring them back to the present moment and ask: what do I need to do right now? Then do just that.
Prayer
