A Safe Place

Think of a doorway you would duck into during a sudden storm: a bus shelter, a shop entrance, a friend’s porch. A refuge does not stop the rain, but it gives you somewhere to stand while it passes. God is described as that kind of place, and also as strength for when we must step back out. Not distant help that arrives late, but help that is already here, close enough to reach.
