Grace Before and After Meals
Giving thanks at table is one of the oldest Christian customs, rooted in the Jewish blessings over bread. The first prayer below is said before eating and the second after the meal. Both are traditional and short enough for children to learn by heart.
Bless us, O Lord, and these thy gifts, which we are about to receive from thy bounty, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
We give thee thanks, almighty God, for all thy benefits, who livest and reignest world without end. Amen.
